COL JAMES J. WATKINS To TAPS

 

I just received a call from Kim Watkins sadly advising that Jim passed away earlier this afternoon. She was by his side until the last second. I assured her that we will all be there for her and the family during this sad and trying time.  

 

She also shared that Jim was lucid until the end, and to that point she relayed that he enjoyed each and every phone call, email, and text he received from everyone over the past 2 weeks.  She was so grateful that everyone took the time to communicate and share good memories with Jim - it did mean the world to him and gave him great joy and immense peace. 

 

Funeral arrangements are in process and exact details will be forthcoming. Intent is to have the funeral at Notre Dame, likely in the June timeframe. 

 

Please say a special prayer for Jim, Kim, and the Watkins family that He gives them strength through this, and that their heavy hearts soon find comfort and peace.
