Chrome SCAM

If you are using Google's Chrome browser (or even Firefox), be on the lookout for this scam:

The scam leads you to believe that your PC has been compromised when, in fact, it has not been compromised, and gives you a number to call that will connect you with your friendly east Asian hacker who will commence to take over and truly wipe out your PC.

One way to spot the scam is to look at the internet address in the "address" bar near the top of your browser.  In the scam, the address of the "helpful" warning page shows: "windows.microsoft.com.msf-help.info/_windows/62".  That is clearly NOT from Microsoft.com (note, also, that there is no https:// or padlock that helps assure the page is actually from Microsoft).

It always pays to be alert!
