101st Finance Gander Crash Memorial Update # 7
I am pleased to announce we finally have a decision regarding the placement and rededication of the memorial stone honoring Captain Luis Avillan and Sergeant Michael Murray, 101st Finance, who were killed in the crash of Arrow Air Flight 1285 on 12 December, 1985.
The rededication ceremony will take place on 25 July on the grounds of the 101st FMSU at Fort Campbell, KY. As of this posting, the exact time of the ceremony has not been determined as it is dependent upon the travel schedule of LTG Karen Dyson, Military Deputy, ASAFM (C), who has been invited to participate in the ceremony. As soon as I know the time, I will post it. I just wanted to get the date out so those planning to travel to Fort Campbell can make travel/accommodation plans.

I wish I was close enough to join in the ceremony.  Reference the story in the Finance Stories about the 2/64 Arty to 101st by Dick Darcy and Jerry Heard.  My story recounts the chaos that was unfolding when the 101st returned from RVN.  To me it was a great success story and endeared me to the 101st as if I had been assigned there.  The support and gratitude afforded Al and I for our service there made us feel like we were part and parcel of the Division.
