COL CARL J. BORDIGA To TAPS

Carl John Bordiga, (Col, USA, Ret.), of San Antonio, TX, age 88, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008. He was born in Hartford, CT to Frank and Josephine Beretta Bordiga on January 1, 1920.

Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Colonel in 1975 after 32 years of distinguished duty. His army experience took him from the China-Burma theatre in WWII to Korea, Germany, and Okinawa, during which he was commended for his abilities, knowledge, and meritorious service.

As a devout Catholic, he was deeply dedicated to his local parish of St. Pius X, where he served as the director of the Arboreans. He was also an accomplished musician, directing his own group The Intimate Strings, and serving as its violinist. In the last twenty years of his life, Carl owned and operated Texas Orchestra Services, supplying classical stringed instruments and sheet music to local schools and students. His knowledge of stringed instruments and classical music was well known and avidly sought.

Carl was a loving husband and father, and was ceaselessly devoted to his wife Adele for 62 years. Carl is survived by his loving wife Adele Dorothy Bordiga of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Mary Joan Stella Morehead and husband Robert of San Antonio, TX; son, Peter Carl Bordiga and wife Patricia of Petaluma, CA and son, Michael John Bordiga and wife Ann of Murray, UT; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jayson, Todd, Toni and Telina; great-grandchildren, Shane, Skyler, Allysa, Autumn, Auchelle and Teliesha; great-great grandson, Axon; two sisters, Gilda St. Dennis and Mary Ann Antinerella. Carl was interred in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
