MS ETHYL BEANE To TAPS

Ethyl Olivia Beane, 96, of Boise passed away June 10, 2010. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 18, 2010, at Cloverdale Memorial Park. 

Ethyl, known to friends and family as “Blackie”, was born January 23, 1914 in Hamburg, Arkansas to William Zimers Black and Rachel Burgess Black. She grew up in and around Hamburg. After graduating from high school, Ethyl went to work at the Lake Village Arkansas Hospital as a nurse trainer. After three years, she was sent to Little Rock, Arkansas to attend the State Medical School to be trained as a laboratory technician. 

While in school, she met Woodrow H. Beane, a soldier in the US Army stationed in Little Rock with the CCC. They were married on May 24, 1931. She traveled with him to his various duty assignments throughout his career, including three years in Boise, Idaho from 1955-58. They moved back to Boise in 1975. 

Ethyl enjoyed gardening (flower and vegetable), sewing and trout fishing with her late husband. 

Ethyl is survived by her son, James L. Beane and wife, B. Anne of Ponchatoula, LA; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine High of Hamburg, AR and Willie Moore of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow H. Beane.
