Requesting Info on Okinawa Finance Operation

1135, 23 Jun 2014

Dick Rankin sent this request for info:

I have a fellow who is doing some research on Okinawa and army finance. When i was at Central funding , Vietnam, they funded us from Okinawa as I recall, but I cannot remember much about who those guys were. Any ideas on who might be able to help?

Anyone able to help him, please contact Dick via email

Also, Craig Gockel is looking for some historical info on the 176th Finance:

1)  I’m looking for date the 176th Finance Company/Section got to Okinawa.
I know it left New Guinea on 1 August 1945 arriving on the Philippines on 8 August 1945.
BUT when did the 176th get to Okinawa?
2)  Who was the first Finance Officer of the 176th Finance Company/Section that set up on Okinawa.
this was probably 1 July 1946, the day the US ARMY took over duties from the US NAVY.
3)  I’m also looking for the date the Camp Kue ARMY Finance Office closed down and moved to a different location.
The Camp Kue ARMY Finance Office had around 42,000 ARMY personnel records in 1970.
In 1975 there was only a hand full of ARMY Troops stationed on Okinawa.
Thus the closing of Camp Kue and moving the Finance Office.
Camp Kue was the ARMY Finance Office that had all the US Dollars for the Pacific during the Vietnam War.
Sincerely;
Craig Gockel
