COL THOMAS C. GRISSOM To TAPS

COL (Ret) Thomas C. Grissom age 95 of Stone Mountain, GA, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorotha Lee Grissom who greeted him saying “what took you so long and did you make the bed before you came?” . He is survived by his daughters, Gayle L. Skelton and Carol A. Rivera (Skip Cloninger); grandchildren, Dr. Scott T. Welton, Kristen E. Welton, Julio C. Rivera, Jr (Heidi) and Thomas Blake Rivera; great grandchildren, Riley Welton, Reece Welton, Anna Lisa Rivera, Alexander Lee Rivera, Andrew Julio Foster Rivera and Ava Lila Rivera; brother, James C. Grissom.

Tom was born in Richards, Texas on June 27th, 1921. He attended Richards High School, was a proud member of the Class of 1941 of Texas A&M University (B.S.), Class of 1950 Harvard Business School (MBA). He proudly served his country for 31 years in the US Army during WW II and Vietnam. His second career was as the Business Manager of the Emory University Department of Anesthesiology for 21 years. He was a faithful member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church. His kindness, zest for life and relationship with God are what his friends and family will remember most.
