Wounded Warriors OHANA

1833, 21 Dec 2016
Fellow FC and Friends of Finance -

Recall a few months ago, I let you all know of a Wounded Warrior effort that COL (R) Dick Rankin founded in Hawaii.  Dick's project, known as Wounded Warrior Ohana, is now well beyond the embryo stage, and they could use as much help as possible.   And it is that Christmas GIVING TIME, right?

I continue to be very impressed (and thankful!) with Dick's efforts and his volunteer team's dedication and ask that you consider supporting his worthy organization, knowing that your hard-earned donations will go in their entirety to the intended recipients.  I have attached a few more details below.

Please know that these wounded warriors and families appreciate your support, and it is tax-deductible!  Moreover, his program is in NO WAY affiliated with the scandal-ridden Wounded Warrior Project that we've all heard about.

Please dig deep; this is indeed a worthy cause -- and many thanks!!   Wishing each of you a great Christmas and even better 2017!

All the best,

Roger Scearce

========================================================

Dick Rankin is the founder and president of a local organization dedicated to helping wounded warriors of all our wars and their families.  This organization is Wounded Warrior Ohana.

The mission of Wounded Warrior OHANA is "To Honor and Remember those who sacrificed so much for so many by providing enriching family experiences."  It is a local non-profit organization to benefit Hawaii-based service men, women and families.

It is not affiliated with The Wounded Warrior Project which has been heavily criticized for internally consuming up to 50% of the donations they receive for wounded warriors, including paying their executives salaries exceeding $250,000/year.

Dick advised us of the pending 501c(3) status of the organization:

First, let me thank you for your support.  We were trying to save money and we had a volunteer former lawyer filing the papers for our 501c3. He didn't quite come through. So we have hired the legal firm of Wong and Wong. Wayne Ingle prepared the financials for the application so I know they are perfect and so said Erwin Wong, our lawyer. He is an Iolani graduate by the way. So, I can confirm the filing is in the process and I have every confidence it will be done in the near term. So, for those who want to ensure tax deductibility, I can let everyone know when Wong and Wong have finalized the 501c3. I am under the impression that it will be retroactive for donations made.
BTW, please check out our website at wwohana.org to see the neat events we are providing!

Dick and all members of his organization DONATE their time and many extra efforts to the work. All Wounded Warrior Ohana members and associates are non-paid volunteers.  Therefore, 100% of your contributions end up providing support to wounded warriors and their families in Hawaii.
