COL JAMES K. STRINGER To TAPS

COL JAMES K. STRINGER passed away 10/15/2015.  Hedied at his home on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Col. Stringer was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas on October 8, 1922 to the late James L. and Lydia Baber Stringer. Col. Stringer joined the U. S. Army during World War II, beginning a long career that saw action in the South-East Asian Theatre of World War II, in Korea and in Vietnam, before his retirement in 1973. After retirement and a move to Gainesville, Col. Stringer began a career with the State Attorney’s Office 8th Judicial Circuit in Gainesville, retiring as the Executive Director. He then went on to work many years in the UF Athletic Association’s Gator Ticket Office. Col. Stringer was a past President of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville and an active member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Gainesville.

Col Stringer was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy E. Stringer in 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Linda S. (Buddy) Pelter, Jamestown, N.C.; son, Michael J. (Barbara) Stringer, of Gainesville; brother, Harold Stringer, of Gainesville; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
