Received this news bit from Bon Caetano, who is in Belgium.

Tuesday morning as I was finishing breakfast & my coffee, watching the TV all of a sudden breaking news ,bombs at the airport then later in the Metro. We are abt 50 miles from the airportclose to Aachen in Germany.  What a shock to see everything so close by. We were thousands of miles away from the Paris attacks so it was not as big a thing because it was thousands of miles away.   Everything has been quiet here but when we went to the local supermkt on Wed all the entrances were closed except one & that had a security guard checking the people. Today it is still a major news item. It has relagated the coverage of our election so it is almost non existant compared to what it was when we first arrived. No telling how long this will go on. There are 5 or 6 english stations inc CNN, CNBC, etc, so we are kept well informed. Lisette´s niece is a nurse at the local Univ hospital which is close to Brussels. They received a couple dozen casualtie including some burn victims many of whom  have horrible wounds. + most of the dead. they have a major morgue where many have still not been identified. The staff is very shook because they are not used to anything like this, maybe an auto accident once in a while.  these barbarians are using nails & screws in their bombs .  On a  lighter note I was introduced to a new Belgian beer Sint Gumarrus. Sint gumarrus among other things is the patron saint of hernia sufferors.  I am well qualified to drink his beer.  Tomorrow is Easter & Lisette´s family will gather to celebrate  As his the weekend tradition the TV will have bicycle races & soccer games.  Your humble on the spot (but not too close)  correspondents.   Bob & Lisette
