COL HAROLD R. GOLDEN To TAPS

COL HAROLD R. GOLDEN passed away 8/7/2015.

Ret. Col. Harold R Golden,86, of Springhill, Fl 34606. Passed away at 10:11 on August 7th 2015 to be with his Loving wife Wanda Louise Golden of 66 Years. A Celebration of His Life will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 11:00 AM at Grace Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW  102 AVE, Bushnell, FL, at 1:00 PM with Military Honors. He is survived by his last sibling Maxine Dimaria of Jesup, Md. , son Dennis Michael Golden and daughter Denise Michele Ingersoll 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Col. Harold R Golden was and is a legacy to all who knew him. Col. Harold R Golden was born Sept. 30 1928 in Little Valley, NY, the 5th child of Jack P. Golden and Harriet Smith Golden. He grew up in Olean NY where he graduated from Olean High School in 1946. His later education included a BBA at St. Bonaventure University (1952), and MBA at Indiana University (1959) as well as attendance during his military career at the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS (1967) and the US Army War College at Carlisle, Pa (1972).

Col. Golden's military assignments started with enlisted service in Italy 1946-1947 and after receiving a commission in the Regular Army in 1952, with the 7th Division Artillery in Korea (1953), the Army Finance School 1955-1957 and the Army Finance Center 1959-1961 both at Ft. Harrison, Indiana with US Army Alaska at Ft Wainwright in Fairbanks 1962-1964, Dept. of Army Staff in Washington, Dc 1965-1967, the American Division in Vietnam 1968-1969, US Army Personnel Operations 1969-1971 and at the US Army Missile Command in Huntsville, Al 1972-1975 where he was the Command Comptroller until his Retirement in July 1975.

Col. Golden then moved his family to Largo, Fl. Where he resided till May 1993 whereupon he moved his wife to Timber Pines in Springhill, Fl. Col. Harold R Golden spent the last 4 months his life at beautiful Wellsprings residence where he was happy and loved. He will so be dearly missed by all of us.

Please join us in saying goodbye to a wonderful husband, father, grandparent, and friend. As we lay to rest our parents together as they continue all the wonderful travels with each other.
