Bertha was a parishioner of St. Anthony de Padua. She was a member of the Senior Club at St. Anthony's and enjoyed baking cookies and cakes for the festival held once a year at the church. She loved taking care of her home and gardening. She had a green thumb when it came to the care of her plants and flowers. Funeral Mass was offered Monday at 11:30 A.M. at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Interment followed at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Our thanks to the staff of Care Giver's Day Out, especially Irene Hernandez. Thanks to all the staff at BAMC and a special thanks to Dr. Ann Merck; the third floor staff at Parklane West, and to Dr. David Espino and his associates. A final thanks to nurse Lorena Flores, for her compassionate care of Bertha during her final hours and to the nurse's aides Amy Stainbrook and Agnes Boston who assisted Bertha during her last hours. To Odyssey hospice, who came to offer support as Bertha made her final journey. Thank you to all her friends who supported her during her time of illness, especially Margaret Poole who faithfully visited and prayed with Bertha each week. Mom, we love and miss you.
