Al LaBarbera's Illness

Greetings to all RAFINO/RAFONCO past, present and future members from one of the original members.

 

I had the pleasure of attending many REUNIONS  over the years but missed the past two.  Reunions are great and we (wife of 56 years Betty) and I enjoyed every one.  While reunions are great and always exciting, the organization brings much more to its members.   

 

OK, so I know very few will get excited about a little known FC Officer  who retired in 1980 currently living in Naples FL.

 

However the purpose of this e-mail is to give you an update on some one that everyone knows and loves COL Al LaBarbera (what a guy) For the past several years Al has lived in Naples Fl. so I had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Al (he loves martini's and poker). 

 

Unfortunately over the past several  months Al has developed some rather serious medical problems. I don't know the full extent of his problems as the DR's are still studying the best course of treatment but apparently it will involve treatment for cancer.

 

Last Tuesday Nov 6th Al along with his youngest daughter Jeanie, flew north to Ft Wayne Indiana.  I talked with Al and Jeanie earlier this evening and he will be staying with Jeanie for some time(old timers will remember that Al lost the love of his life, Nancy a few years ago).

 

Al is in good spirits and told me he is looking forward to returning to Naples.  Now for you young guys, I am talking about the 80 plus gang who knew Al best (or any anyone who cares) please send Al a card.  Mail can be sent to:

Wouldn't it be great if Al received 100 cards.  Also keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
