Update on Earl Daniels' Back Surgery

705, 12 Nov 2012

You may recall from a recent post that Earl Daniels had to bail out of the Reunion because he had been thrown by a horse he was trying to break.  This ended up requiring some back surgery.  Thinks apparently went well, as the note below from Earl suggests.  We are all happy to see he's on the way to full recovery:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wanted to give you a brief medical update on my back surgery.  I had the surgery on Oct. 31 for a herniated spinal cord.  Turns out being thrown from the horse was not the cause; but, was the factor that highlighted the problem.  A cyst had developed under the spinal cord which pushed the spinal cord against the spinal column.  The cyst was removed; the spinal cord bounced back in place; and, after four days in the hospital I was permitted to come home.  Recovery is slow and somewhat painful; but, not as slow nor as painful as it could have been.   Hopefully, in eight to twelve weeks I will be back to my daily routines.  Which, by the way, will not include breaking horses.  One amusing side note was that my surgery was done on Halloween; and, performed in Operating Room # 13. Later, Earl
