Update on Soonie Adams

Several folks have asked what's going on with Soonie, so I wanted to pass along what has happened. In June she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After a number of tests, it was finally defined as a stage II  squamous cell tumor in the upper part of her esophagus, with no matastasis beyond the local area.  The surgeon determined that its high location made it a poor candidate for surgery. Since then, she has been receiving both chemo and radiation - chemo in two five-day sesions three weeks apart with both in-office infusions and simultaneously via a 24hr pump she had to carry around - and 28 continuous radiation session. Both treatments started at the beginning of August and ended on the 31st.  Now we wait for three weeks for for her to recover, and then it is scans and other tests to see where we go from here. Obviously, the hope is that the radiation and chemo have eliminated the tumor and that she is cancer free. We hope and pray that such is the result.

Sorry we'll miss you all at the reunion. We were really counting on making it this time around.
