MS. Mary Barb TOOHEY to TAPs

MS. Mary Barb TOOHEY passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

She passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Barb will be Friday, June 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3205 60th St., Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the end of the visitation. There will be an additional visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.

Mary Barbara Kubik was born on June 30, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa, daughter of George and Libbie (Greazel) Kubik. She married Barton J. "Bart" Toohey on March 8, 1951, in Iowa City.

Mary Barb was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, Women at the Well, the Catholic Service Board, where she was a past president, and PEO Chapter F.J. She enjoyed shopping, baking and devoting her time to helping others.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ the King Catholic Church, Assumption High School or the Kahl Home Building Fund.

Surviving Mary Barb are her husband, Bart; and their children, Matthew Michael (Karen) Toohey, Winnebago, Ill., Mary Catherine (Edward) Gerlach, Eatontown, N.J., and James Barton (Catherine) Toohey, Bettendorf; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, and Colin Toohey, Victoria and Patrick Gerlach and Erin and Andrew Toohey; two great-grandchildren, Haylie and Cullen Toohey; sister, Margaret (Dale) Seydel, Iowa City; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. May they rest in peace.
