New Member - SGM CHAD F SAMSEL

Please welcome SGM CHAD F SAMSEL as the latest member of our RAFINO family.

Sergeant Major Chad F. Samsel joined the U.S. Army as a 73C, Finance Specialist, on July 5th 1994, and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.

Sergeant Major Samsel spent six and half years on Active duty before he transitioned over to the Army Reserves.  After completing his eight year obligation he then transitioned over to the Army National Guard as an AGR member and now is part of the Army National Guard G8 community.  He has held numerous positions within the Finance community in both Resource Management and Military Pay throughout his career.  He currently claims Greenwood, Indiana as his home.

Sergeant Major Samsel’s previous assignments include the 82nd Finance Solider Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina (Jan 1995-May 1998); Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Defense Finance and Accounting Center, Indianapolis, Indiana (May 1998-Dec 2000); Army National Guard Financial Services Center, Indianapolis, Indiana (Apr 2005- Oct 2008); Army National Guard Bureau G8, Budget Formulation NCOIC, Arlington Virginia (Oct 2008-Dec 2009); Campy Atterbury, Edinburg, Indiana(Dec 2009-Dec 2010); Army National Guard Bureau G8, (Jan 2011-Jul 2012); Army National Guard Financial Services Center, Indianapolis, Indiana (Jul 2012-Aug 2016); and His most recently assignment where he served as the Director of Training SGM for the Financial Management School house, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina (Aug 2016-Jul 2019)

Sergeant Major Samsel completed formal training at numerous military schools to include the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Senior Leaders Course, the Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Master Resilience Course, and has graduated from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Non-residence course, class 43.

A few of Sergeant Major Samsel’s military awards include:  The Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), The Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5th award), and Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, The Army Staff Identification badge. The driver’s badge, and Airborne and Air Assault badges.  SGM Samsel is a recipient of the Finance Corps General Nathan Towson Medallion.

Sergeant Major Samsel is married to his wife Traci Samsel and is a proud father of 4 children, his step son Lance, and daughters Lillian, Livia, and Liona

Sergeant Major Samsel will retire on 30 Sep 2019.
