New Member - LTC JOSEPH A MYRDA

Please welcome LTC JOSEPH A MYRDA as the latest member of our RAFINO family.

Lieutenant Colonel Joe Myrda, was raised a U.S. Army Finance Brat.  In 1987, he enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard and in 1991 received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Finance Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate and graduated from the Finance Officer Basic Course at Fort Ben Harrison, Indiana, as the course’s Distinguished Honor Graduate.  In 2001, Lieutenant Colonel Myrda graduated from the Army Comptrollership Program (Class 49), earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Syracuse University and also receiving his Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) designation.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and a Senior Service College selectee. 

Lieutenant Colonel Myrda has served in a variety of FM command and staff assignments throughout the spectrum of Army / Joint / Combined / Coalition Operations … from Special Operations Forces (SOF) to America’s only Tank and Air Assault Divisions.  He commanded Bravo Detachment, 208th Finance Battalion in Mannheim, Germany, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 18th Finance Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina and a Detachment within the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), also at Fort Bragg.  He served as Deputy Division G8 at 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany and G8, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  In 2011, he was selected by senior Army FM Leadership to serve as the FM Branch Chief at U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky.  His culminated his Active Duty career in 2014 with HQ, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) at Macdill AFB, Florida.

Lieutenant Colonel Myrda’s Operational Deployments include CJTF Disbursing Officer, OPERATION SUPPORT HOPE, Uganda / Rwanda / Zaire Area of Operations, Africa (1994); Deputy Division G8, 1st Armored Division, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM I, Iraq (2003); Budget Officer, Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) (2005-2006); Executive Officer to the CFLCC C8, Kuwait (2008-2009); and CJ8 - Comptroller, CJTF-101 / Regional Command (East), OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF) XI, Afghanistan (2010-2011).

Lieutenant Colonel Myrda’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.  He has earned the Master Parachutist (Distinguished Honor Graduate of his Jumpmaster Class), Pathfinder and Air Assault Badges, as well as the German Parachutist Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel Myrda is married to the former Stacy Louise Ruest and they are raising an energetic 9-year old son, Zachary.
