Update on Gander Crash Memorial

1620, 11 Jun 2016

101st Finance Gander Crash Memorial Update # 2. Our Committee Chairman CSM (ret.) Jeffrey Green recently visited Ft. Campbell where he met with the curator of the Pratt Museum where the Memorial is currently in storage and with the senior leadership at the 101st Finance HQ and DMPO. Initially, we were looking at a couple of options of displaying the Memorial at a proposed new museum or at a consolidated unit memorial area at an outdoor location on Ft. Campbell. Neither of those options now appear feasible. However, Jeff found the 101st Finance HQ/DMPO leadership are fully on board with our efforts and are eager to work with us to move the Memorial from storage to an appropriate location at their new headquarters. This is where we believe the memorial should be anyway. In the coming weeks we will be coordinating the logistics of the move, including funding options. As previously noted, we plan to have a formal ceremony re-dedicating the Memorial at Ft. Campbell as soon as possible. We will of course keep you all informed and we hope as many former 101st Finance members and others will attend. I ask that all former 101st Finance members in this group reach out to your friends and former colleagues not in this group and spread the word about our efforts.
