Most of you probably know this, but for those of us who might be a little rusty on the protocol, here is a refresher (thanks to Larry Elsom):

Pledge of Allegiance (indoors):

Active/Retired military in uniform-- Stand at attention, face flag, REMAIN SILENT.

Persons in civilian attire-- Stand at attention, face flag, right hand over heart, recite Pledge of Allegiance. Note: Men, if wearing headgear will remove it.

Passing of the Colors (indoors):

Active/Retired Military in uniform-- Stand at attention 6 paces before and 6 paces after flag passes. DO NOT SALUTE.

Persons in civilian attire-- Same as above.

National Anthem (indoors):

Active/Retired military in uniform-- Stand at attention, face flag, hold this position until last note of music. DO NOT SALUTE.

Persons in civilian attire-- At first note of music, face flag, place right hand over heart, hold this position until last note of music. Note: Men, if wearing headgear will remove it prior to music.
