MAJ VIRGIL R. ELDRIDGE to TAPs

Virgil Robert Eldridge Retired Major U.S. Army

78, of Fishers, passed away March 2, 2015. He was born October 15, 1936 in Chesterfield, IN, to the late Stephen M. and Goldie Fugate Eldridge.  Virgil was a 1954 graduate of Anderson High School.  He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1971 and his Master's of Commerce from the University of Richmond in 1975.  Virgil served 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Army having been stationed in Vietnam, Korea and Germany; and then as a Finance & Accounting Officer at Ft. Lee, Virginia.  His retired Civil Service included 20 years in the Systems Accounting Division of The Defense Finance Accounting Service Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN.  Virgil was a member and past officer of the American Legion Post #495, Indianapolis.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service 1:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St.

Virgil is survived by his children, Robert L. (Betty) and Anthony L. Eldridge, Suzan E. (John) Cassidy and Sandra L. (Douglas) Pope; grandchildren, Matthew R. and Michael A. Eldridge, Adam D. and Justin C. Pope, Krista M., Lindsey E., and Annabelle M. Cassidy.  Virgil's wife, Jerise Johnson Eldridge; and a brother, Paul N. Eldridge, preceded him in death.
