MS NORMA H. FERGUSON To TAPS

MS NORMA H. FERGUSON passed away 7/12/2013.

 A memorial service for Norma Ferguson, 83, was held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Incarnation Lutheran Church. 

Mrs. Ferguson died Friday, July 12, 2013. Born in Passaic, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Gertrude F. Feiler and the widow of (Ret.) Colonel James C. Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson was a graduate of Sunbury High School in Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan where she received her BA and Masters in Education. Norma was a life-long member of the Girl Scouts, serving as a troop leader, trainer and council member. She was an active member of the Breath of Life Lutheran Church in Blythewood and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Norma was a team member on numerous S.C. Lutheran Synod mission trips to Tanzania, Africa. During her husband's military career, Norma was a great supporter of the wives' club and her military community. In addition, Norma was a tutor for elementary children and military personnel.

Surviving are her daughters, Joellyn (Joseph) Fellmeth of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Jennifer ("Alf") Poel Van-Fossen of Greer, S.C.; sister, Louise Rompf of Lafollette, Tenn.; grandchildren, James Poel, Brett Poel, Erika Fellmeth, Joseph Fellmeth and Konrad Fellmeth. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, (Ret.) Colonel James C. Ferguson and sister, Helen Thomas. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Girls Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands, 130 Pinnacle Point Court, Suite 100, Columbia SC 29223; Breath of Life Lutheran Church, 300 Main Street, Blythewood SC 29016 or the Norma Ferguson Tanzania Memorial (make checks to S.C. Lutheran Synod), 1003 Richland Street, Columbia SC 29201.
