LTC EDWARD R. GILMORE passed away 12/13/2007.

Edward R. Gilmore June 23, 1931 - Dec. 13, 2007 Resident of Livermore Edward Gilmore passed away from natural causes on Thursday, December 13, 2007. Edward was born to Anne and John Gilmore in Hartford, CT, and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia; his daughter, Sara Lund; sons, Edward Jr. and wife Julie, Michael and John; and 5 grandchildren, John Gilmore, Melanie Gilmore, Jennifer Lund, Megan Gilmore and Kevin Gilmore; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother, John T. Gilmore and wife Lorraine (of New York); and sister-in-law, Rita L. Gilmore, and was preceded in death by his brother, Robert A. Gilmore.

Edward was a graduate of Seton Hall University, earned a Master's Degree in Accounting from Northeastern University and served in the U.S. Army (18 years as an MP, 5 years in Finance). He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War; and served tours in Italy, Panama and Iran. After retiring from the Army in 1976, he began working at CCH CompuTax where he worked until 1989 as Director of Administration. When he retired from CompuTax, he opened his own tax preparation service and continued with that until he sold his business two years ago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus from the early 1950's, and in the last fifteen years served one year as Faithful Navigator and several years as Faithful Comptroller. He also was a member of the Retired Officer's Association. A Visitation will be held Wed Dec. 19 from 5-8 p.m., with a Catholic Vigil beginning at 6 p.m., at Callaghan Mortuary 3833 East Ave. in Livermore. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Thurs., Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 458 Maple St. in Livermore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations: The American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association or Hope Hospice.
