MS GERTRUDE BRIGANDI To TAPS

BRIGANDI Gertrude Mary Schlosser,born Nov 13, 1920 in Syracuse, NY, passed away on Jan 9, 2010. She was the widow of Colonel (U.S. Army Retired) Joseph Brigandi, her beloved husband of 60 years.

Mrs. Brigandi and Colonel Brigandi moved to Kentucky in 1992, and were residents of Equestrian Woods in Nicholasville for over ten years; she then resided at The Lafayette, and more recently lived at Lexington Country Place. Mrs. Brigandi reared four children, and as the wife of a career Army officer for over 31 years served in various organizations and civic groups in the United States and aboard. The Brigandi's lived at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN and spent several tours of duty in Washington, DC. Her overseas duty stations with the Colonel took her to Germany and Panama, Canal Zone. An avid gardener, in 1960 she founded the North Springfield (Virginia) Garden Club, an organization still in existence today. While stationed at Fort Amador in the Canel Zone, Mrs. Brigandi taught kindergarten.

She is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Her children are Donna Moloney, Lexington, KY, Cynthia Amerine (David), Catawba Island, OH; Steven Brigandi, San Mateo, FL, and Lisa Pawczuk (Jim), Roseville, MI; granddaughters, Erin Fetzer (Michael), Alyssa Pazdan (Dave), Megan Moloney, Caragh Moloney Babcock (Carl), Christina Brigandi, Heather Andries Bastin (Josh), Shana Smith and Robyn Anglebrandt (Douglas); grandson, Michael Whit Moloney (Taylor); and great-granddaughters, Jordyn Whitcher, Edyn and Emelyn Anglebrandt, Hannah Smith, Camryn Fetzer, Lucciana Pazden and Catherine "Elliott" Moloney; and great grandsons, Hunter Whitcher, Carson Pazden, Joseph Babcock, Cade Fetzer, Andrew Bastin and Moses Anglebrandt. Other loving family members include her sisters, Alice Polk (Buck), San Diego, CA, brothers-in-law, Monsignor Paul A. Brigandi, Syracuse, NY; and Albert Giordano, Franklin Square, NY; along with a host of extended family and very special friends.
