1SG(R) William E. Jarred Jr. of Dover, TN passed away on August 9, 2014. We served together in the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division Finance Office, Fort Campbell, KY during 1982 – 1985. He was then a highly performing SSG. His loyalty, tenacity, can do spirit, and commitment to task, condition, and standard was vital to reducing pay complaints to zero, ranking the 101st as having the best paid soldiers in the Army. He later became the 1SG of the 101st Finance Company. He was truly one of the most outstanding NCOs that I had the good fortune to serve with. His wife Dottie sent me the following information:
Ret. 1SG, William E. Jarred Jr. of Dover, TN went home to Heaven on August 9, 2014. He was the only child of the late William and Gladys Jarred Sr. of Gleason, TN. William is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dottie Barker Jarred, his children, Billy Jarred (Rhea) of Allyn, WA, Jeanie Shannon (Joe) of Big Rock, TN, Tricia Coburn of Kennewick, WA, and Casandra Glasgow (Stephen) of Paducah, KY and also nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at his church, Grace Baptist Church of Dover, TN on August 16 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service, with Bro.
