Mr. LUX, THOMAS F. to TAPS

Mr. THOMAS F. LUX, (Husband of MS MILDRED), passed away 5/12/2014.

Tom was 94. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony A. and Clara Volz Lux; his first wife, Grace Anne Stenger Lux; and his brother, Fr. Leonard Lux, O.S.B.


A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Thomas graduated from Cathedral Grade School, attended St. Meinrad Minor Seminary and Butler University. Thomas served in WW II in the Army Quarter Master Corps as a technical-sergeant in Alaska and on Okinawa. For the majority of his working life, Thomas and his father (Tony) owned and operated Lux Laundry and Dry Cleaners, a north-side business serving Indianapolis families for nearly fifty years.


He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Pius X Chapter of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of Christ the King Church.
His passions in life were his family and friends, his faith, the study of health and nutrition, travel, tennis, gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mildred; daughter, Susan McMurray of Lake Bluff, IL and her children Michael (Kristin), Kathleen Davis (John), Daniel, and Patrick (Kaetlin); daughter Kathleen McKinney and her children Timothy (Jessica), Matthew and Annie; son, Thomas Lux, Jr. (Donata) and their children Christopher, John (Debbie) and Benjamin (Sarah); daughter Mary Linda Hays (Thomas) and their children Thomas Hays, Jr. and Lindsay; and his twelve great grand-children.


In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to Marmion Abbey, 850 Butterfield Road, Aurora, IL 60502-8609 or to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
The family extends a heartfelt "Thank You" to all who helped in Mr. Lux's care at St. Vincent's Hospice, Senior Home Companions and Westminster Village North Rehabilitation Center.
