Our Prez, Sez:

"Please accept our most sincere wishes for a wonderful year 2000.  I guess we're all going to need some time to get used to an entirely new way to express the current year on our checks and letters.  The past six months have been a busy time for the RAFINO staff.  I believe we have handled most of the issues correctly and hopefully to your satisfaction.

Colonel and Mrs. "Chick" Cecchini announced they will retire as co-editors of the RAFINO Report immediately following this issue.  Chick and Sjelja, I speak for the entire RAFINO organization when saying that we will miss your strong leadership in the active management of RAFINO.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the great, great work you have done for each of us.  Every time we think of RAFINO, we will think of your efforts in "Helping Keep the Finance Family Together" and enjoying each other.  We look forward to seeing you at the reunions and other events.  Our love and thanks to each of you.

As a token of our appreciation for the wonderful work the Cecchini's have accomplished, RAFINO has dedicated its new web site to Chick.  We selected this gift, Chick, because you have kept us in touch with each other and the Army Finance Corps.  Please use the web site to provide us your seasoned advice and guidance.

Colonel and Mrs. Claud Wallace have accepted our invitation to become the second RAFINO co-editors and are working hard in Texas engineering a smooth transition.  Congratulations on the appointment and we thank you, Claud and Virginia, for accepting this huge and important job.  We look forward to working with you to keep RAFINO members informed.  Welcome Aboard!

Bob and Mary Lou Radomski have led many RAFINO families on a most enjoyable cruise into and of the Mediterranean area in August.  I'm told that a brief report and a photo are in this issue.  Also, arrangements are being made to show a video of the tour during REUNION 2000.  Bob and Mary Lou, thank you so much for being our travel shepherds once again.  Where do we go next?

During the past 6 weeks Claud Wallace, Bob Flewelling, Bob Radomski, Phil Anderson, Jim Martens, Warren Murray, Roni Lias (our Webmaster), and others have generated a near-miracle by creating and publishing the RAFINO Web Site at http://www.RAFINO.org.  The web site is an additional communications vehicle for RAFINO members and provides a great way to share what is happening.  Also, you already can use the web site to register for Reunion 2000 and other events.  A sincere "thank you!" to all of the people who spent numerous hours making the web site am impressive reality.  Roni, welcome to the RAFINO family and a special thanks to you for your efforts.

Jim and Glenna Martens, plus numerous other RAFINO members, are working hard to put the final touches on REUNION 2000.  The Reunion Committee is doing an outstanding job developing an agenda that provides ample time to visit with your favorite RAFINO friends and see this beautiful town.  You probably got a small taste of today's Washington if you watched television on New Years Eve, but the real thing is even better.  Jim and Glenna promise to provide many tour choices, a beautiful riverboat brunch and ride, a great hotel (with reasonable prices), delicious food, and a touch of Army events.  Chick Cecchini has arranged for our organization to place a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns in honor of our fallen comrades.  I know you will find Washington DC a great place whether visiting it for the first time or returning to a former duty location.  Details of REUNION 2000 can be found in this newsletter and on the web site.

OH!--and don't forget to heed the warning about limited hotel rooms and the need to register early.  So please do register ASAP.  Have a safe and enjoyable Spring."
