Message From The Honorary Colonel of
The Finance Corps Regiment

BG (Ret.) Roger W. Scearce
To My Fellow RAFINO Members:

First a few "thank you's" are in order.  We all owe an immense  debt to the outgoing Honorary Colonel of the Finance Corps Regiment, MG (R) Paul P. Burns.  MG Burns did a fantastic job as our "most senior" leader, and will certainly be a hard act to follow - but I know we will continue to lean on him for his insights, sage advice and counsel as our Corps moves forward.  Secondly, I'd like to publicly thank Colonel Ed Stanton, all of our FC commanders and soldiers, and everyone at Ft. Jackson for the magnificent retirement and honor guard ceremony our Corps gave me in late March.  What a sendoff!!  Debbie and I will relive those wonderful memories forever.  Thank you one and all!

Indeed, I am very honored and humbled to be afforded the opportunity to continue to serve our great Corps as The Honorary Colonel of The Regiment.   My right arm in this new role is CSM (R) Bob Johns, the new Honorary CSM of the Regiment.   CSM Johns is a phenomenal NCO and leader who's done it all at every level of our Corps, in both peace and war, as an old, dear friend, I've served with before, I am very proud he is my partner as we represent the FC Regiment.

As I discussed with MG Burns at the last finance Board and my retirement ceremony, I understand fully the need to keep all informed about "what's happening" in our FC; and I promise to do that.  As you probably know by now, our former Commandant and Chief of the Corps, Colonel Ed Stanton, was just selected for promotion to Brigadier General.  That is absolutely great news and certainly reaffirms the importance the Army leadership places on our Corps as an integral part of the Army Team!  Ed's first general officer position is to be as DCS Resources Management, HQ TRADOC, Ft. Monroe, VA. T his is a tough Comptroller assignment, but I know he'll handle it with ease.  Following COL. Stanton as our newest Commandant is COL. Charles Walker, a FC officer with stellar credentials.  COL. Walker's last posting was as Military Asst. to the DFAS Director, and before that he commanded the 266th Finance Command in Germany.  I am confident Charlie and the finance School team of professionals will lead our Corps into the 21st century with pride and distinction.

This is an exciting time for our country, our Army, and our Finance Corps.  We've got the very best leaders and soldiers we've ever had, and I know our future is in great shape.  Again, thank you for your trust and confidence and I pledge to keep you informed and to represent our Corps to the best of my ability as your Honorary Colonel.  TO SUPPORT AND SERVE!
